Can I use the pepper grinder for salt?
We do not recommend using the pepper grinder for salt. Salt is naturally corrosive and can damage metal grinding components over time. For dry salt, please use a HOTQILIN salt grinder designed specifically for salt environments.
Why are pepper and salt grinders designed differently?
Pepper and salt place different demands on a grinder. Pepper requires strong cutting performance and consistent texture control, while salt requires corrosion resistance and materials designed for long-term exposure to salt crystals. That’s why HOTQILIN develops dedicated systems for each.
What grind sizes can I achieve?
HOTQILIN grinders are designed to support a wide range of textures, from fine seasoning to coarse cracked pepper or salt. Exact settings may vary by model.
Is the grind size consistent?
Yes. The stainless steel burr and dual-bearing support system help produce uniform, repeatable grind sizes from fine to coarse.
Is this grinder good for steaks, BBQ, and grilling?
Yes. HOTQILIN grinders offer precise control from fine seasoning to coarse cracked pepper, making them suitable for steaks, BBQ, grilling, roasting, and everyday cooking.
What spices can this grinder handle?
The pepper grinder is optimized for peppercorns and can also be used with selected dry spices such as cumin, dried chili, cloves, and fennel seeds. It is not recommended for salt.
Will pepper fall onto my countertop after grinding?
The magnetic powder chamber helps collect residual pepper after grinding, reducing loose grounds on tables and countertops.
Adjustment & Performance
How do I get precise grind size control?
Start by turning the adjustment dial clockwise until it reaches the stopping point. This is the starting position. Then turn counterclockwise and count the clicks to reach your preferred texture range.
This helps you return to the same grind size more consistently.
What are the grind ranges for internal-adjustment pepper grinders?
8–18 clicks: Fine Ground
19–28 clicks: Table Ground
29–38 clicks: Coarse
39–48 clicks: Quarter Cracked
49–60+ clicks: Half Cracked

4–8 clicks: Ultra Fine

How should I clean my grinder?
Use a dry brush, soft cloth, or air blower to remove residue. Do not wash the grinder with water, place it in a dishwasher, or soak it. Keeping the internal components dry helps maintain long-term performance.
Is the grinder dishwasher safe?
No. HOTQILIN grinders are precision mechanical tools and should not be placed in a dishwasher. Clean with a dry brush or soft cloth only.
Why does the grinder feel heavy?
HOTQILIN grinders use metal construction and precision internal components, which give them a solid, substantial feel. The weight is intentional and reflects the materials used.
What does the magnetic chamber do?
The magnetic chamber helps catch loose grounds and keeps your countertop cleaner. It also removes quickly without threaded twisting, making it easier to measure, empty, and reattach.
Will the magnetic powder chamber lose its magnetism over time?
The chamber is secured by 24 high-strength magnets engineered for strong holding power and long-term performance. Unlike rubber-ring designs that may deteriorate with age, or spring-ball mechanisms that may lose retention over time, the magnetic attachment system is designed to remain secure, easy to open, and easy to reattach during daily use.

What is covered by the 1-year replacement guarantee?
If your HOTQILIN grinder has a quality-related issue within the first year, we’ll help make it right with a replacement. Misuse, accidental damage, unauthorized modifications, normal cosmetic wear, or use outside the intended purpose are not covered.
What does lifetime parts support mean?
After the first year, eligible replacement parts are supported for the lifetime of your grinder when available and applicable. This is parts support, not lifetime full-unit replacement.
